أثبت إيكر كاسياس قائد ريال مدريد وحارسه التاريخى أنه يستحق عن جدارة لقب "سوبرمان" بسبب تصدياته التاريخية.
فقد فعلها مرة اخرى أمام اشبيليه مثلما فعلها فى 2009 وبنفس الطريقة وأثبت أن أفضل صدة فى التاريخ حسب الكثير من الإستفتاءات لم تكن ضربة حظ.
فمنذ عامين وبالتحديد فى الرابع من أكتوبر لعام 2009 تمكن من حماية عرينه ببسالة من تصويبة الأرجنتينى بيروتي لاعب أشبيليه ليصمت كل من فى ملعب رامون سانشيز بيزخوان معقل الروخى بلانكوس لمحاولة استيعاب المعجزة.
وبعد المباراة وضع الموقع الرسمي للريال صورة التصدي الرائع على صدر الصفحة الأولى للموقع وكتب تحتها "كاسياس يقوم بتصدي تاريخي"، وأشار الموقع ان هذا التصدى هو الأفضل في تاريخ كرة القدم إلا أن كاسياس قال لوسائل الإعلام الأسبانية " لا تعتبر هذه الصدة ذات أهمية لأنها لم تفيدنا على الاطلاق " فى إشارة منه بإنتهاء المباراة بهزيمة الريال 1\2 .
ولم يكن تألق كاسياس على صعيد الدورى الأسبانى فقط بل حاز القديس على لقب صاحب أفضل صدّة خلال عام 2010 في استفتاء أجرته صحيفة 'ماركا' الرياضية الإسبانية .
وتصدى كاسياس في نهائي مونديال جنوب إفريقيا 2010 أمام هولندا، لإنفراد مهاجم الطواحين الهولندية أريين روبن، الذي سدد الكرة بإتقان على يمين الحارس الذي كان يقظا واستطاع إبعادها بقدمه.
وكانت نتيجة المباراة ستتغير تماما إذا أحرز روبن هذا الهدف، لأن النتيجة كانت سلبية وقتها، لكن كاسياس حافظ على نظافة شباكه وقاد 'الماتادور' إلى الفوز بلقب البطولة الأول في تاريخه بفضل هدف لاعب خط الوسط أندريس إنييستا.
